Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Annie Zhang and I am a sophomore double majoring in Supply Chain, Operations, and Technology (S.C.O.T.) and Marketing and minoring in International Business. Having been born in China, educated in the British system, moved to the US as a teenager, and studied abroad in Israel, I am a product of globalization. I have a deep appreciation for the cultural intricacies and the unique business intricacies they present. This rich exposure has empowered me to offer valuable contributions while collaborating with project teams to address complex business challenges. Notably, I've consulted for the Israeli startup WeSki in devising their U.S. market entry strategy, luxury shoe brand Allen Edmonds in their expansion to Canada, and Microsoft in enhancing technological strategies.
On a team, I usually play the role of idea-generator and "conflict-resolutor". According to Clifton Strength Analysis, my top 5 strengths are achiever, strategic, restorative, context, and activator. I have good people and leadership skills. This can most likely be said for most students applying for the internship. What I pride myself in is my genuine curiosity, which helps me to connect with my peers and professor. I love bringing together new perspectives into everything. Having idea-generating conversations excites me.
In my free time, I like to paint watercolor sunsets, hike glaciated peaks of Washington State, train for a half-marathon, watch true crime shows and perfect sautéing asparagus. Photography is my most personal passion, self-taught through trials (and many errors). Whirls of emotions and stories are embedded into every photograph. Scrolling through my photos, memories resurface; the related stories are frequent and welcomed visitors to conversations. Often, as I show my friends a hilarious, unexpected photo, we bond over laughter.
